Who said Buzzards don't kill?

it was only trying to give it a back massage geez :P

Amazing shots, in the right place at the right time.

I seen a buzzard just before xmas, it was being hounded by a large murder of crows, The buzzard had a a crow in its claws which it dropped and landed not far from us. Looking at the dead crow it looked pretty fresh, dont know if was caught on the wing but certainly didnt look like roadkill, the buzzard never came back to claim its prize. As per bloomin normal didnt have the camera with us when we seen this drama unfold.

That is quite a sequence, particularly the second shot - radar lock ON!

What the Sky News site failed to mention as that they had sat there in the freezing cold for 6 hours to see this bird and as soon as they spotted it this happened.. Kind of makes me laugh whilst still feeling sorryfor the bird

There was a story in our local newspaper a couple of months ago about a woman who was taking her dog (a jack russel i think) for a walk, when a red kite came down and tried to take the dog away.

Dean:)

I was out with a falconer friend, he had his peregrine with him...he let it off, just he did though some of the local youth came round with some small mongrel and it went for it! Never seen them run so fast :D

Where I live they regularly soar on the thermals in a circular movement past our house.
I don't know if it is normal but they are often is threes, marvellous to watch.

Must be a family you have :) They do soar together! I remember watching 6 (2 separate families) from a hill in Tatton Park!

Of course they kill, they're birds of prey:shrug:. It's just that they are lazy b*****ds and tend to take carrion when it's available.

Except when I'm trying to photograph them, they ain't lazy then, they just sod off out of view as quick as they can. Gits:bang::bang::lol:

TWO twitchers waited hours to see a rare bird – then watched as a buzzard made a meal of it.

Off-duty cop Paul Freestone and pal Tim Twiggs sat shivering in undergrowth hoping for a glimpse of the Grey Phalarope.

The elusive wader is scarcely sighted in Britain and this one had stopped off in Cornwall as it migrated to West Africa for the winter.

Paul and Tim eventually spotted it and started taking photos – only to capture the moment a buzzard had it for tea.

Excellent photo's though.

They saw it, they saw a rare event and captured it, pretty well too.

Thats quite funny :D

that sucks. Just about to go to holiday to west africa and some yob eats you...

Very well documented...but I'm afraid to say it brought a smile out across my face. Mother nature at her bitchiness!

I know I should be sad for the Phalarope, but I have to confess I had a bit of a chuckle.......I couldn`t help it :D
