Why are so many selling on their X10's ????

This includes me but for reasons of not being able to use the camera one handed. But I have noticed on the forum quite a few being sold on and so many on E Baaay so why are owners deciding against keeping the camera and what are they buying instead?

It's peers don't seem to come up for sale as often - so me confused why?
 
I loved mine. However, due to my naff eyesight I needed a better VF so bought a G3. Still miss the look and feel of my X10 :(
 
for me ,mine broke (4 or 5 problems)
and i decided a take a refund instead of replacement ,i have to say Fuji where a pleasure to deal with but i am not sure how good there quality control is ,
its a fantastic camera and if it hadn't had issues id still have it ,what have i bought now a 5d mk111 :D(i had planned on owning them both )
i will get anouther fuji at some point the retro looks and the feel is great
 
I had a week with a G3 earlier in the year and liked the VF but I found it needed two hands which for me was the problem. My wife also owned the G2 for a few months, which had a good VF, but for her it was too big. Also she didn't want to fiddle with changing the lens and she wanted something to zoom in on the monkeys at the zoo :clap:
 
Nik - yes I also wondered if the Fuji was as durable as its peers. Mine went back but only twice - once for sensor & LCD screen change and once as the rear thumb grip dropped off.

I never seemed to read about the Canon G12, Nikon P7100, Olympus XZ-1 & Panasonic LX5's going back as much. All cameras on my shortlist before I bought the X10.
 
I sold mine because I went back to a cheap DSLR and have since gone to an X100 which is probably what I wanted in the first place as was always happy using a fixed focal length.

i used to own the canon g10 and it was better built than the x10 without a doubt ,but the x10 was so much fun to use it just made me smile ,yep they have there faults but i really think Fuji nailed the design ,i cant wait to see what the mk11 version brings
 
I think the X10 created a bit of a buzz and that will attract buyers who maybe buy to see what the fuss is about then move on if it doesn't suit them.

I'm chuft with mine and along with my new X100, I feel well covered digitally.

Seriously I am missing having the X10 because I am still without a replacement. I must get on the case. Still no rush as I enjoy looking into what's about :lol:

Waiting in for the garage to pick up my 'bike (Royal Enfield) which refuses to show any sign of life (no warning lights, no horn, nada!) despite having a fully charged battery. Sounds to me (and them) like a supply cable/connector fault so not too hard or expensive to sort. I would do it myself but no room in the garage to get around the thing and no dry, warm weather to do it outside. And I always seem to bash my head when I'm fiddling about on motorcycles and would rather not do that at the moment!

Once they're loaded up, I'm going to try to blag a lift to town with them and visit a shop to see if a Nikon 1V1 or X10 fits in my shirt pocket. Both seem to turn in great photographs and a truly pocketable quality camera seems to be the only genre missing from my collection! Slightly leaning towards the 1V1 since that will allow me to use my SLR lenses (if I spend another £230 or so...) but I reckon the X10 will fit a pocket better so is probably favourite for the position.

Just for you John - my wife's pu55y and ar5e!

Sorry to spoil the fun but an X10 won't fit in your shirt pocket (unless you have a special shirt with huge pockets...)
 
Yes, I have other pockets and the X10 didn't fit in those either but I do insist on wearing 'skinny' clothing.
However, it was Nod's requirement to fit in a shirt pocket (sounds a bit pocket shy to me :))

Yes but they are stuffed full of £50 notes just waiting to be spent at The Devon Camera Centre :nuts:

You're quite right, Ernesto, the X10 doesn't but it's younger brother does!

Not sure what pocket shy means but the top shirt pocket is pretty secure (it's right under my nose!) and the easiest to access, ideal for a camera/phone/ciggies (the family name for that pocket is the "Piggy Socket" a Spoonerism of ciggy pocket)

Nah! For purchases of that cost, I use a debit card like the queen has her equerries do when she buys something. As it happens, they prefer cards to cash - cards transactions cost less than banking the equivalent cash.

By the time of your post, Yv, I was there and back up to the place I had lunch and from where the extremely kind proprietor gave me a lift home.

(Sorry to have stripped the quotes of some smileys - there's a post limit and this post had exceeded it by some margin!)
 
I bought one on here for my better half. I thought it would spark her into getting out and taking some pics, but she used it once ... I used it more than she did. So, I sold it on, with the intent of buying a full frame compact at some point for street shooting. The X10 is a fun little cam, but I did find it a bit fiddly at times, to change certain settings. I just didn't like the menu system. Also I found it to be a better jpeg shooter than Raw, and RAW is what I really want.

In an ideal world, it would have a viewfinder but the pocketability is (to me) far more important. The screen is easily visible under bright light (I held it up close to the ceiling light in the shop and could see it fine) and there's an extra bright display setting in the menu (which I'm pretty sure can be assigned to one of the function buttons for quick access when needed). I shall of course be testing the thing extensively before the holiday and if I feel it needs it, there's always a screen loupe (although that would reduce the pocketability!).

Very neat and tidy design and the on/off system is a bloody good intelligence test, involving a ... nah! I'll keep that bit a secret and see who passes the test when I see them!
 
Viewfinders are more or less important to different people I suppose. For me it is not the fact that it sometimes can't be seen in bright light, it is the way the camera has to be held that I dislike.
Although saying that, the X10 viewfinder was a poor implementation of one anyway even if I did use it.

The design does look good though and as you say it has a very compact form which is something I like.
 
I've even discovered that it'll go in my pocket with the flap of the case closed over the outside of the pocket, meaning the case can stay in there while leaving the camera quickly available - absolutely ideal!

Chris, I know what you mean about the holding when using the screen rather than an EVF or OVF but as you say, the EVF isn't the X10's finest feature.

I did have a bit of a heart stopper yeasterday night after fiddling with settings - the flash wouldn't fire or even switch on using the rocker switch. A quick read of the manual soon set me right (and flashing like a mooning student!) - I had set the thing to continuous shooting, which automatically disables the flash!

Note to self, RTFM!!!
