Nikon, Sigma, Tamron and Tokina, all seem to have shied away from building such a lens - why is that ?
The FX 70-200mm f/2.8 lens options are all pretty big and expensive. Surely a more compact version of this, for crop sensors, would be a big seller (at least a few years ago, before the advent of FX sensors) :|.
So, why do (some of) these companies only offer small, variable aperture lenses in these focal lengths (e.g. 55-200mm f/4 - f/5.6)
. I want a fast DX zoom, dammit! I don't want to lug my FX 70-200mm with me when I'm holiday, when I have D90 that would happily wear something smaller.
I am missing something obvious here? Does anyone know why such a lens has never been offered . I'm really curious to know.
Thanks for reading.
