Wide angle 10-24mm Lenses

Im wanting a 10-24mm lens as I start builing my new kit.

If you were buying one would you go Nikon or Sigma??

Jules is selling his Sigma 10-20mm in classifieds. You wont get a better lens for the price.

If money was no object, I would go for the 14-24 f/2.8 Nikkor. However, back on planet Earth and in real life, I went for the Sigma 12-24. If I only used a crop body and never wanted to go full frame, I would go for the Sigma 10-20, probably the older version since it's cheaper and reputed to be better (not sure why.)

The Nikkor lens is almost certainly better as well as being a constant f/2.8 aperture but the large price difference is too much for my needs! Haven't dared try a Nikkor just in case my GAS gets the better of me.

Sorry, just re-read my earlier post and spotted the reference to the Sigma 10-20. There's a Dx (crop sensor only) Nikkor that covers 12-24mm but at this end of the focal length range, the 2mm can make a difference. If you want extremely wide, there's also an even wider Sigma and even a crop body (DC in Sigma nomenclature) circular fisheye. Most Sigma lenses are cheaper than the manufacturers' own lenses with a few notable exceptions.

Pick up a nice Tokina 11-16. The best of the best for crop and takes standard 77mm filters unlike the mega expenive NIkkor 14-24
