wide angle and teleconvertors

hi just joind this forum i got a canon 450d with a ef-s 18-55 is and tamron af70-300mm f/4-5.6di ld macro 1:2 i go to motor sport events and were i go is not really close enough to get the best pics could i use a 2x converter would it be worth it with theses lenses

all so wouldnt mind a wide angle lens but dont want to pay more then £100 really as i wouldnt use it that much are there any reconmendastion on them an were to buy i now i will ony get a second hand one for that

all so is it worth using uv filters
 
I think you're really going to struggle finding a wide angle for sub-£100, unless you get lucky on a second hand lens.

Can't comment on TCs I'm afraid.
 
yea i no £100 a bit much to ask for but cant see the point in spending more for the amount i would use it
 
The 18-55 will not work at all with a 2x Tc. The 70-300 will be so slow and soft with one that it will make it practically unusable. Better save your money for a longer lens such as the Sigma 120-400mm.
 
dont think i can justify £600 on a lens wuld love to but its a lot of money to spend just to tack a few photos for my self if i was a pro and had my own busness it might be differnt the lens might pay for its self
 
the cheapest wide angle ive seen was at £299 for a 2nd hand sigma... they dont seem to be much cheaper unfortunately!!
 
ps. if you have any images taken with the 70-300 itd be good to see them.. im on the lookout for a zoom at the moment

I am afraid you are mistaken. In the Canon world you can use a Kenko TC on just about any lens apart from EF-S lenses.
