no filters support, slow, and not the sharpest ever, and for the best part it is way too wide
Tokina 16-28mm is a lot more sensible version of the same bubble design

I have one and used it on my 20D and 5D. On my 20D it easily beat my Canon 10-22mm and on the 5D it is as far as I know unique unless you can find another 12-24mm full frame lens.
Mine is sharp as you like in the centre but I wouldn't expect stellar performance at the edges but another way to look at it is find me a 12-24mm that beats the Sigma at the edges. Distortion is effectively non existant and despite how many times it's repeated on internet forums that you can't use filters the simple fact is that you can. Leave the bucket in place and you can fit a filter holder and the point at which the extra hardware gets in the way will no doubt very depending upon what you're using and how you use it. People do just hold or fix somehow filters to the front without the holder and/or bucket but a sensible question would be what filter would get you the effect you want at these focal lengths?
It's a bit of an odd ball lens and people will love it or hate it. Personally I loved it on my 20D (better than the Canon 10-22mm) and on the 5D it's one of the reasons (together with the Siggy 85mm f1.4) I went FF.

Just to give a different opinion, I have 17-40 and really don't like it, but it does make me some £££ at the end of the day. I tried buying 16-35 II and all I found were defective copies. People's expectations differ - just so you are aware
