I have a Nikon D810 body and at present I am using only a 28mm and a 180mm Nikkor lens for my pictures. I have given my 50mm to my wife as I never use it. I bought all these lenses to use on a DX camera and therefore got the extra focal length. My 28mm became a 44 mm, my 50 became a useful 75mm portrait lens and the 180mm reached out to 270mm. I don't really need a portrait lens anymore and am wondering whether to spend my cash on a wide-angle zoom and sell the 28mm which is a Nikkor 28mm f1.8G.
If I did which in your opinion is the better wide-angle zoom, the AFS Nikkor 18-35mm f3.5-4.5G ED or the AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR?
I might also add that I have a 24mm f2.8 manual focus Nikkor which may fill my need for a wide angle without the purchase of a wide-angle zoom and if that was the case I could use the available funds to get myself a 105mm macro for summer close-up shots of beasties in the garden which does appeal to me.
As you may gather I have money for a single lens that is burning a hole in my pocket but I don't want to get the wrong thing.
To sum up:
Get one of the wide-angle zooms (which one) or stick witht he 28mm/24mm combination and use the money for something else?
