Wide Angle recommendations

I'd like to "experiment" with a wide angle lens, have a go at some architecture and landscape work.

Could you recommend me a good value, new or second hand, wide angle lens to try my arm with. I dont want to spend too much, if i enjoy this I will trade up, so would like to stick to about £100 or thereabouts at this stage.

It's to fit a Canon 40d, my "widest" other lens at present are 28-135 IS and 50 1.8.

There was a Tokina 19-35 in the for sale section which I tried to get but missed out on.

Thanks.

Here's the question, how 'WIDE' do you want to go?

Surely you could pick up a kit lens for about £30, yeh, not the best lens about, but ok for the price, then see how you get on with it, then take the plunge with something like a 17-55 f2.8 if you're flush, or a siggy 17-50.

i have the 17-50 tammy 2.8 and its the only wide angle ill ever have, unless i get a UWA 10-22 etc
