Yes
I have a Canon 15-85 and a Sigma 100-300 F4 for my 40D, but have been thinking about going wider.

If I purchase a Sigma 10-20 am I really going to notice that much difference from the 15mm on the Canon? Splashing out nearly 300 quid for 5mm seems a lot, but then I do like my landscapes.

What do you think? :)

Yep, I was surprised at the difference it makes.

It seems people have differing opinions re what focal length for landscapes.

5mm at the long end really doesn't make much difference, but the difference between 15mm and 10mm is really quite pronounced! Learning to use an UWA is a big challenge, it's not about trying to fit as much in as possible, it requires you to really think about your composition (as I fount out when I went for a walkabout with mine, and just came back with my subjects very very far away and the girlfriend saying "why didn't you just zoom in more?")

Do a search on flickr for '10mm' and you'll find plenty of examples to see what kind of results you can get

I just got a canon 10-22mm and so far am finding myself using the 22mm end more than the 10mm. Playing with it one night I can stand in a corner of the room and get the other 3 corners in shot when at 10mm. I find myself getting in really close to stuff and trying to fill the frame with the subject, I was taking some shots of a cake my sister made and was about 20cm from the cake, it looks distorted but I really like the effect.

with UWA you usually get quite close up and personal to the forground subject matter in your photo. As in a previous post, its not all about getting everything in.

It will make a big difference, even my lens that starts at 11mm is MUCH wider than the 15-30mm lens I had before and from 10 to 11 mm it is another 10% difference in width

i used a canon 10-20mm at the weekend and it was quite a shock, you can get really close up to things. At 10mm everything is really far away. as said above, standing in one corner of a room you can get 4 walls in the shot, takes abit of getting used to, and im not sure i did in the 3days i had it??

Well I've taken the plunge and just agreed to buy a used Sigma 10-20 from another forum. Now looking forward to having a go - think it will be going on our holiday to Greece in a few weeks time for a good trial run.
