What should I look for? I have an eos 1100d. Seen some cheap ones on ebay, are these any good for starters? Or are they more of an "add on" for the standard lens? (apologies if that's a daft question).

Thank

Hi Mat

Depends on what you call cheap and which lenses they are ?

I've a Sigma 10-20m UWA lens and it's great, not as expensive as the Canon UWA and for me, does the job very well...

a wide angle could always be helpful
its not really an add on
or do you mean the screw on filter wide angle converters

it just gives you something else to play with to

I saw some at £30!but on canon's website, they have some around £250

That sounds like it's an adapter rather than a lens, as Rab has shown, an UWA lens is £300 +

Personally, I would opt for a lens over an adapter.

Decide on your budget and go from there - I would if you can have a look at the different lenses and see which you prefer / falls into your budget.

I looked at the Canon and Sigma UWA - for me, I couldn't see a huge difference between the 2 lenses I tried and for what / how often I use it, the Sigma was my choice...

Enjoy it :)

Hi,

Just wondering if the 10-20mm Sigma fits both the canon and nikon DSLR's or is there a different model for each?

No it's a different fitment to the Camera body - if look up Sigma 10-20mm and you'll see Canon fit, Nikon fit, etc..

Thanks alot. You've been a great help. Seen a Nikon fit fairly cheap locally and was considering it. Will keep searching.

No votes for the Canon 10-22 EFS. A cracker of a lens! Though it's a fair bit pricier than the Sigma. I'm always banging on about it.

Canon 10-22mm is a great lens if your budget allows.

I'd choose a lens over a stick on piece of glass or plastic anyday... :)
