Wide lens for 50d

I need a wide lens for my Canon 50d to take internal shots of buildings. Need not be anything too special but should be able to deliver the goods. I currently have a 24-70mm F2.8L but that does not go wide enough.

Do not want to spend a fortune and zoom preferred. Can use tripod so speed of lens not that important. Any ideas?

Given the fact you have been using a 24-70mm it's hard to tell whether you would be better of with something like the 17-55mm or the 15-85mm (both EF-s lenses by Canon).
If you need more angle than that then you will be looking at the likes of a Canon 10-22mm (expensive) or Sigma 10-20 (more affordable).
 
Unless you need ultra wide you could try a cheapie 18-55 kit lens! Depends on the type of interior though?? I used my 10-22 (at 10mm) to snap my sister in laws property prior to her tenants moving in only the other day incase of disputes etc. and I found that perfect.

TBH I don't see f/2.8 as all that useful on an UWA lens. It's only at most a stop and a half faster than the Canon 10-22 and still isn't fast enough for indoor work without a tripod really. The shallower DoF afforded isn't really an issue with an UWA lens anyway IMO.
 
I've gone the canon 10-22 route rather than the sigma, purely because I found one second hand and it was faster to focus. Results are very good.
Bear in mind though that at 10mm you do get a very slanted perspective. You get around 170 degrees of view ,handy for sneaky shots of people close and for sucking in sky/clouds
 
Just a thought, although I have no experience of this lens whatsoever, is the samyang 8mm?
 
The photos are never going to be bigger than 6x4inch on a website so I am guessing that, for the time being, a cheap 18-55mm kit lens might do the trick? Otherwise I am looking at spending several hundreds.
 
You could always take two 18mm panned pictures and stitch them together with software if you need to go really wide. At 6x4 nobody will notice. Canon's Photostitch software is pretty easy to use, but there are plenty of other options to try.

Looking into this more, I am impressed with the Canon 10-22mm, even more so now I have discovered that it can be modified quite easily for use on a 1d, which is likely to be the next camera I will acquire (I know care must be taken not to use this combination at the 10-12mm end)...just got to find one at a decent price!
 
Thanks for all your advice....I have now acquired a very tidy Canon 10-22mm.....my initial impression is positive and I really like the results when it is at its widest!
 
Good choice, it's a stunning lens!
