Wide lens for canon under £200?

Would that be asking too much to find one?

I'm thinking of xmas ideas here, so I don't want to go 2nd hand, as it wouldn't be me buying. And Santa can't afford any more than that. So is there any out there that I could drop a few hints on?

Currently using 50mm and 35mm primes (I'm not keen on the kit lens). And really itching for something wider, around the 15mm range. Just wondering if there's anything out there worth buying that would fit the bill. I don't expect A1 quality for that money, obviously. But it seems 'budget' lenses don;t exist at all..

For under £200 you're looking at the cheap lenses in the 18-50 and 18-200 range from Canon, Sigma and Tamron. I can't see anything wider than that for less than £200. Yes, they are classed as budget lenses.

On a 350D you're looking at one of the 10-20mm lenses (or similar) for really wide angle.. you might get a Sigma 10-20mm under £250 second-hand.. but I can't see anything new for under £200 that's worth the expense. Be very wary of budget lenses, you buy something thinking that you'll accept the reduced quality and then it sits in the bag for the next three years gathering fluff. Maybe Santa could be persuaded to buy a Chocolate Orange and put the rest "on account" for next year/birthday?
