I have a 50mm lens but every now and then i could do with a wider lens to get everything in ,my budget is £150.00 can anyone recommend something please?

I tend to use the 50mm outdoors and the 35mm indoors it can be bought with your budget, someone more experienced may have a better idea though.

It might help to know what make and model camera you have.

There's lots of choice but it depends on what field of view you want and if you want a zoom or a prime. You should be able to find a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 or Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 in budget or definitely one of the several variants of 17/18-50mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens. If sticking with primes maybe you can find a 28mm f1.8 in budget or maybe a 24 or 28mm f2.8.... I had the Tamron 17-50mm and thought that it was good, I also had a Sigma 30mm f1.4.

There's also the Canon 17-85mm. It has USM and IS and a good focal range but personally I'd rate its optical quality as... dubious.

So, what do you want? Zoom or prime? Variable or constant aperture? f2.8? f1.8?

OK. On a Canon APS-C personally I'd go for something between 20 and 35mm and personally I'd go for a f1.4 or f1.8 rather than a f2.8.

Besides the Sigma 30mm f1.4 I mentioned earlier I also had a Sigma 20mm f1.8 which I liked and they do (or did) very similar 24 and 28mm f1.8 lenses. IMVHO any of those would be a good choice as would the Canon equivalents.

I'd also consider picking up a 18-50mm f3.5-5.6 "kit" lens as they're very cheap and could come in handy even if you only use it once in a blue moon.
