will a 2x converter work??

ok I'm new to this but after taking a few pics at an autograss meeting I have been asked if I will take some at the next big meeting up here but he wants me to take them at the other end of the track (first corner).Problem is it's quit a bit further away from the racing line and my lens is a Canon EF-S 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III DC Lens (came with the kit) every body else who takes pics at that end use a 400mm+ but I was thinking would a converter do what I need?.The pics could end up in a magazine if i get any good ones

I can't answer the question about the converter, but think with the reduced light gathering you might struggle with shutter speeds.

Have you got any pics online? Used to be involved with Autograss but haven't been for 5-6 years now.

No a 2x won't work.
Even if it fits the lens you'll have a manual focus f11 (ish) lens which won't in a million years produce images good enough for web use let alone printing in a magazine.
I'd suggest you hire a suitable lens

Found him seems that a lot of people are happy with the service he provides seems like a good guy, I've never used them but, might try them out soon

thanks for the info/ideas but it's not a paying shoot as such its just a **** race meeting for about 600 of the best in the world of autograss and was asked if I took any good pic's could they be used in the "supergrass" mag.But I was just thinking I could do with a bigger lens and thought a converter would be a bit cheaper
