Will a Black Rapid strap attach to a redsnapper QR plate?

So I'm looking at getting a sling strap, I really like the idea of the black rapid connecting to the tripod mount, but I wouldn't like having to keep switching between the plate and the fastener (or fastenR or whatever it's called!).

Anyway, the redsnapper plates have a little flip-up bit that I've never really understood what it was for, would it be suitable for a sling strap? The hole it makes isn't huge, so I was wondering if the clip/carabina thingy would fit?

If anyone has both and could confirm, that would be great :thumbs:

That is a help, what make of head/qr plate do you have on your monopod? Cheers:thumbs:
 
Im pretty sure when i had a black rapid strap it would fit though a redsnapper plate. Are you on about using this for your 120-300? if so thats a a serious amount of weight to be putting on the flip up bit which is just designed to let you finger tighten the plate to your camera?

It's definitely not for the 120-300 (that would be somewhat brave :D), the 5D plus a 24-70 at the most. Ahh, so that flip-up bit is for finger-tightening is it? Might be a bit of a worry attaching a strap to it..... Hmm, have to have a think about that one! :thumbs:
 
Ah right was wondering! I'd think it would be fine with the 24-70mm.

I dont know about the redsnapper plates but I use a Arca style QR clamp attached to my BR strap - I can then attach/detach from the lens plate.
Attached is a pic of the set-up - I use this with a 7D + 300/2.8 + converter (almost 8 lbs)
