Even if it fits it'll be far from optimal.
The 24-70 has the hood attached to the main barrel of the lens and the extending part of the barrel moves inside the hood. The hood can be very deep because the front element moved forward when zoomed to wide angle - different from all other canon lenses.
Just get the right hood, it's worth it especially for the 24-70.
