Will my cable release work?

I'm going to be upgrading from a Canon 1000d to either a 550 or 60d and wonder if the cable release from the 1000d will work with the new camera? It's not a Canon one, I think it's a Hama.

Any ideas?

I assume it's a 3.5mm jack then yes.
