Will the Sigma 70-300 APO work just as well on a D700 (full-frame)?

Yes
Is the Sigma 70-300mm APO lens designed to work just as well on full-frame as cropped cameras, such as the D300? I thought not, but can't seem to find any conclusive proof otherwise. In fact the Sigma website seems to indicate that it will work fine on full-frame...

I believe it'll fit, but how good it'll be is another matter. With a larger sensor too, it'll seem to be less 'zoomed in', as you'll be seeing the actual 300mm field of view, rather than the equivalent of 420mm as seen through the D300.

How it performs at the edges is another point, on a crop camera only the middle of the image circle is displayed on the sensor. On a full frame, much more of the image circle is used, so edge sharpness (or lack of it) could be more clearly demonstrated!

Thanks for your thoughts ;) However, I'd really like to hear from someone who knows for sure what the situation is (someone who's stuck one on their full-frame DSLR?)

I'm pretty sure it will fit, but what are the results like?

Cheers

No I fully realise that it's like playing an old '78 record through a top-end Naim system...

It's simply to settle an argument, nothing else (and i think I've lost :D)
