Will a 'Nikon AF-S VR Zoom Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF ED' lens fit my Nikon D5000?

Might have the oppertunity to get my hands on one soon.
 
Yes.....its a great match....I have one for my D5000 and it produces very Sharp results.....
 
All Nikon F mount lenses will fit.
The issue is will it autofocus. All AF-S lenses will autofocus on your body, or HSM for sigma lenses.

And yes it will and its a great all round lens.
 
this would be a smashing lens for your D5000 or indeed any Nikon camera.
 
Many thanks. I hope the chance comes off. If not Ill stick with my Tamron 70-300. But I cant help but think that the Nikon would be so much better.
