Do I need to go somewhere on the PC to configure the search option? I can find any file or folder etc on my main drive, but when searching for a folder which I know is on my other internal drive nothing shows unless I click on more search options. I just remember the old search you could choose where you wanted windows to look before starting the search. Ta for any help.

shouldnt do, just search in computer and it should search all drives. what string are you using and what file are you looking for?

you can turn on indexing to speed things up but that should affect results.

I somehow thought you might be the first to reply Neil and get all techy on me :nono: Well as an example I have a folder on my E:/ drive named Tunisia. Surely when I start to type that in it should start bringing up results  It comes up with nowt unless I click on more options, and only then it brings up my drive letter with the word Tunisia highlighted above the drive letter in Yellow

Thats cos you aint got a folder named Tunisia Dave
Ha ha fixed it widows search wasnt running, try following How do I troubleshoot problems with search and indexing? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/...es-using-the-index-frequently-asked-questions

when its finished I did try as administrator it fixed and weeeeeeeeeee it now works

Thats good Dave ta for the tip :)

you could try deleting the following file:

c:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\1033\StructuredQuerySchema.bin

that seems to solve a multitude of search issues. the appdata folder is hidden so you can just type in c:\users\YOURUSERNAME\appdata and it should work, then follow the path as above.

Thanks Neil for your time, I did in fact type indexing options in the search menu. Then clicked on the indexing options and then Modify. The E:/ drive was disabled, clicked on it to enable and all is hunky dory now
LOL I do have actually :D And Port El Kantaoui we stayed at the Golf residence
