You may remeber I managed to break my laptop a while back, good news is it's finally been collected for repair/replacemnet by the insurance company.
Any way whilst waiting for it to be sorted nd getting annoyed with my daughters laappy that took forever to load I went out and bought a new one to tide me over :cuckoo:
There were a lot of deals about as I beleive they are changing processors yet again, but anyway I bought a Packard Bell but it's on Windows & 64 bit and doesn;t seem to be supported by quite a few plugs etc, one being raw codecs for both canaon and Nikin.
Any one else had the same problems and found a cure ?

Your right the codec's don't work on 64bit but not all is lost go here.. http://www.fastpictureviewer.com/codecs/canon-cr2-codec/
this will cover you.

Topaz plugins are all now 64bit and work just fine.
Noise Ninja has 64bit.and works fine.
Imagenomic has some for 64bit.
Dynamic-Photo HDR works on/with 64Bit windows..

Hope this helps..;)

If referring to plugins for Photoshop then Photoshop installs a 32bit version alongside the 64bit version and plugins will run fine in that.
I don't know about raw codecs but I can't imagine there are not versions available for 64bit.

I use fastpictureviewer on my Windoze 7 64 bit machine, must say I think it's the dogs danglies. It like going back to the XP plugin :D

Shout out about the things you can't get to work, I've not come accross many that can't be made to work :D

Thanjs all, I really just want to be able to download the pictures and view them as you can with jpegs with just a single click in windows photo viewer as this how I cull them before I start ant editing !

Do have this program

http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm

which is very good but not quite the same

I use 64 bit and dont have probs with codecs

I use the windows live photo viewer , works fine

That's interesting, must admit I never even tried to install it as they said 32 bit, off to try and then shoot some raw pics

View NX2, free download from Nikon, will let you view, label, rate & edit NEF files.

I have 64 bit Win 7 and use fastpicture viewer. Works fine with 450d, 50d, D90, D200 and D700 RAW files.
