Ok this may turn out to be a bit embarrasing.
But I'm buggered if I can find an e-mail program in Windows 7

You aren't being daft. M$ didn't include Outlook Express with their new OS.

As Frank suggests you'll have to download one, work online or install Office.

Edit: Forgot to mention that M$'s current free to use version is Windows Live Mail.

Confused me at first too - there isn't one.

You can get windows live mail but I didn't like it. Wasn't too taken with Thunderbird either. I use Outlook 2007 now but that's not free of course. All I wanted was a simple email program like outlook express.

but you have to download it, i use it and it does everything i want from a mail client. its actually faster to use than Outlook 2010 to be honest.

I use this also. I find it perfectly good. Same as express on previous OS versions I think.

I had just managed to set Live Mail up as my mail programme when I was given a copy of office to load in - and the next time I clicked the icon, I found that Outlook was now the programme it wanted to use and like an idiot, I hadn't made a note of the settings so had to find them again! All seems to be working OK now though.

Mozilla Thunderbird is what I use on Win 7

:plusone:

It's the dogs dangly bits, loads (well some) plugins as well, so, although some features may appear missing at first they can usually be downloaded.
