I like that, seems to be slightly over sharpened with high contrast but that helps on this occasion to give it a raw cold look.

That's a nice shot Geoff, with some really punchy tones. Agree with Andy about the look of being over sharpened but also agree that it works with this shot.

Another in agreement regarding the sharpening, but the composition is lovely.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I'll have a look at the over sharpening. I wasn't sure about having the horizon so central, rule of thirds and all, I did try a crop with more sky but felt it had too much sky.

I've tried another edit with a different b/w preset that isn't as harsh with the black/white clip and midtones (which caused it to look over sharpened - hadn't realised how much detail it removed). Thanks once again for all the comments.

Nice winter scene, the black and white works well, I think your second processing is better.
