Wireless intervalometer for Canon 5D3

Unfortunately I didn't get any replies in the 5D3 thread, so thought I'd give this its own thread....

My intervalometer is playing up. I believe it's this iShoot one which gets branded under many different names (iShoot, Neewer etc.) - the "Set" button isn't very responsive anymore, so it's hard to program the timer settings.

I want to buy a new one, preferably one that's going to last longer and works wirelessly. It seems there are a few to choose from, such as the Hahnel Giga T Pro II, Aputure Pro AP-WTR3C Coworker II, Pixel TW-282/N3, and I'm sure some others.

The Hahnel remote powers itself off after 60 seconds of inactivity, while the Pixel only allows 99 consecutive shots. I'm not really sure if this is likely to be a problem for me at the moment.

Can anyone share any first hand experience with these, or any other wireless intervalometers for the 5D3?

The Pixel TW-282 can also fire unlimited shots, not just 1-99, "The number of shots to take can be set between 1 and 99, alternatively the "--" setting can be used to take an unlimited number of shots, until stopped by the user"

Sounds promising. Does it feel durable? The buttons on mine feel a bit cheap, which is probably why it's failing.

Thanks for the suggestion, however the main unit looks identical to my current iShoot wired remote, so I expect it's made in the same factory and probably just a likely to fail. I'll see if I can find some reviews though.

It is the same unit, they go under many different names, the The Hahnel Giga T Pro II gets the best reviews, much smaller unit too.
 
When I bought the Hahnel Giga T-Pro II it had reports of firing off shots when you don't intend it to. When I read them I put it down to the interference you get from other things on the same frequency around about and people not selecting a different channel. When I actually bought one and tried it, it did the exact same for me, no matter what channel I was on - this could be in the middle of nowhere also, with nobody else around.

I was about to send it back but I decided to go out with it to detail the conditions it happens to me under, for a report, and I dropped the tx in water so that put paid to me sending it back unfortunately :)

I still use it but the spurious shots thing is very annoying, as is the fact that the transmitter switches itself off automatically after 60secs. You also need to make sure you protect the receiver switch from getting switched on in your bag, it will run the battery down fairly quickly.

That doesn't sound very promising. It was my first choice, but now....

Now this is interesting. I had already read about magic lantern and the built-in intervalometer. Think I might have to read up about it in more detail....thanks!
 
Giga T Pro II for me as well. No dramas, great range, doeseverything I need and more.
 
What a plonker I am.
Got my CR2 battery today so popped that into the Pixel TW-282 receiver. Powered up and can not get it to work on the 5DIII. Try it on my 7D and all works fine. b****r what can it be?
Then I realise I haven't put the battery in the camera what a Tw_t.
Oh well all works fine.

We've all been there!
 
Just to update this thread....

My old iShoot wired timer/release gave up completely on me...the SET button just stopped doing anything. So I took a trip to Funan IT Mall and picked up a Pixel TW-282 wireless timer/remote and so far I'm really impressed.
