Wireless Releases

I am looking to do some experimenting with bird shots on the feeders in my garden, and was looking to purchase a remote wireless release.

Warehouse express have some Hahnel units at about £60 and £80, and some even more expensive ones.

I have also spotted the following on ebay for less than £20.

I know you get what you pay for, but has anyone any experience of these as I do not want to spend too much on what is after all an experiment?

I imagine the ebay ones will be fine!, I use my RF602's (flash triggers) to remote fire sometimes as they have it as an extra feature and it works well.

I have one of the ebay releases. Cheap and cheerful, but they work perfectly. A bit heavy on batteries, so my tip is, when not in use, remove the battery

Bought 2 of these nearly 2 years ago for 450d and 50d have worked flawlessly on both and had plenty use. Dont believe all the negative stuff you hear about the cheap and cheerfuls.

I use a Hama wireless remote. Plenty of range, easy to use and cheap (mine came from MyMemory through Amazon's marketplace IIRC)

I've used a Hahnel one on my D700, it's been fine, don't think I've replaced the battery in it yet, not that I use it regularly mind. I seem to recall that the range on them is very good, better than the Nikon one, which was about 5 times the cost.

I posted the same question on another forum a few weeks ago and got loads of replies and suggestions but the one which was most recommended was the Phottix Plato. I then search the web for reviews and they were all very positive - just about to order mine.
They are around £50-60 in the UK but half that from HK via ebay. Full detail and great review HERE
