Wireless remote and 7D question

I have just got a wireless remote for use on a 7D. It works great BUT I have a slight problem/query : I normally shoot using the AF-ON button for focus (while disabling the shutter button focus).To get the wireless to work I have to enable shutter button focus via C.Fn4 is there any way of enabling/disabling shutter button focus without having to go into C.Fn4 ? e.g by assigning this action to some other button perhaps - I can't see any way myself but thought I would ask anyway.

The only way I can think that this might work Roy is to set up a complete set of parameters including your changed AF setting and assign them to one of the 3 custom modes. At least that way your changed setttings are just a twist of the mode dial away without having to delve into the menus. I'm far from certain it would work but I don't see any other way.

Which wirelss remote did you get, and have you had any chance to assess it's working range out of doors?

Thanks for that CT. I have tried the 'C' modes and it seems like the C.Fn4 is global and cannot be stored separately with the 'C' modes.

After a lot of research I went for the Phottix Plato remote. Its range is supposed to be 100 metres but from reviews I have seen it is more like 50-60 metres in the field, still not bad. So far I have only tried it in the garden from indoors and it works through glass OK.
