I recently bought a wireless remote for my D800 from a firm called Tmart.com ( imported from HK). Cost me just under a tenner...works spot on....no fancy timer but locks on for Bulb mode, continuous and single shots, also fires from 100m away. I tested it through 2 walls and one storey and it triggered the camera (normally I'd just stand behind the camera and this ensures I don't have to touch it).

I did have a look at the camranger and it does look good but at just over £250 I can not justify spending that on just a remote.
Thanks for the link johnny, will probably get something similar to that from ebay, I just wanted to see if there was a cheaper way to hook up the iPad to camera.
