I'm looking for a wireless shutter remote that can also take video.

I don't care if its cheap from Japan or whatever.

Its for a Canon 60D.

I'd also like bulb and timer mode but I'm sure it'll have it as standard if it does video.

I've posted this around 6-8 months ago and there was nothing out. A search has come up with all but video ones :(

Can anyone point me in the right direction or can shed any light on this?

If all else fails I'll go for ones that are great for photos only so any recommendations on those alone would be great.

It will NOT work as a Video Start/Stop on the Cannon 60D 5DMK2 7D or Cannon 550D so don't buy it if you are looking for this function.

Thanks anyway. If I was to get one without video I'd set a budget of max £15. With video I'd pay up to £40.

Ahh my bad, with the amount of stuff it does im quite surprised. I've never used video so its not something I check :lol:
 
I might just give up on video, my searches are taking long and I'll need one close to christmas. May have to settle for still only :(
 
Thanks Andy. There are a lot of Chinese ones that do work, and apparently work quite well. I'll just have to stick to stills and bite the bullet, besides it's not like the 60D will be auto-focusing on video anyway :(
 
I don't think any remote triggers which use the remote port can start video capture can they, since that uses a different button to the shutter (either the button in the middle of the scroll wheel, or the live view button depending on camera).

However I believe there are remote triggers now which use the USB port and can start video capture by using the protocols from the Canon software (the Okii USB follow focus can do it).

Or if you have one of the newer EOS video DSLR's there's a smartphone app to do it.

There is one that can do it, with a video to prove it. But it's infrared and has to be facing the camera to activate, I want to be able to taker pictures etc... from behind the camera. I think I posted the link above ^
 
I use the Canon RC-1 IR transmitter with my 7D which as you state you should have to be in front of the camera, but as long as there is somthing for it to reflect off it works okay (a wall etc.).

On the RC-1, if the switch is set to "2" then it will start video recording (in video mode) and if set to "dot", it will take a shot.

I am also sure that the Canon RC-5 remote will NOT start video recording as it only performs the "dot" function of the RC-1...

As far as I am aware, you can't trigger video record with the remotes that you physically plug in to the camera socket which is practically all the wireless ones (non-IR).

I think I'm going to give up on Video and just get the Hahnel Giga T Pro II tbh. Any good places tio buy it from that I can get it for under £50? Anyone off here selling on that anyone knows of?
 
As you have discounted finding a unit that will operate the video function, have you considered the Yongnuo MC-36R?

If it meets your needs, it's a lot more affordable and is both a Timer and Wireless Shutter Release, albeit a wired timer.

That is not good, I had seen a few positive reviews including a detailed video on Youtube where the unit was married successfully with a Canon 50D camera, so wonder if the issue is restricted to Nikon cameras? - strange as I have found all Yongnuo gear to be pretty reliable.
