No
so lets say you are set up to wireless transfer, and you move out of range, take 10 pics and move back into range, do these files upload or are they lost in terms of the transfer itself?

canon and nikon the wt-4 in the case of the nikon and the equivalent for canon.

When I had a WT-2 on a D2x it would transfer if the link was lost, which happened quite regularly even though I used the extended range antenna at the best part of 100 mtrs. So I would assume that the WT-4 would do the same and transfer if the link is lost.

The WT 4 has a 1GB internal memory, so if you go out of range it will store upto 1GB and then transmit as soon as you're back in range. You can also swap memory cards while out of range and it will still hold the images in it's own memory.
