Wireless transmitters

been watching the Euros and Wimbledon and noticed a fair few of the Nikon cameras have what look like transmitters on the hotshoe with an antenna. Anyone know what they are as they don't look like th standard nikon adapters?

Pocket wizards only trigger peripheral units ie flash guns don't they.

Does anyone know of a decent wireless data transfer unit for Nikons. The WT-6 gets a slating for its reliability and performance on most retailers reviews.

Only certain nikon transmitters work with certain cameras so asking which transmitter you really need to know the camera first

Often used by sports shooters to fire remote cameras, like the ones you see behind goals.

WT-5 , WT-6 are just an embarrassment. Nikon should stop selling them.
