Hi looking to replace my canon 100-300 its the old push pull focus one i have looked at so many revues on the three main 70-300 lens in my price range the sigma 70-300 macro, tamron 70-300 macro and the canon 70-300 you pay from 100 to 150 for them which would say is the best of the three thank you

Which canon are you talking about, canon have a 70-300mm IS usm, a 70-300mm DO, a 70-300mm IS L or the one I think you're talking about is the 75-300mm IS which is the one in your budget range. You could also have a 55-250mm IS.

From the reviews I would go with the Tamron, it slightly edges the Sigma. The canon 75-300mm isn't a great lens. Alternatively I would increase the budget and get the 70-300mm IS which is just a step up again in quality or the 55-250mm if you don't want 300mm.

The 75-300 MkIII without USM and IS is probably the worst lens Canon have ever made. It's the only lens that I've not had a keeper from. It's AF is slow and noisy and the IQ it produces was very poor on my 550D. The 55-250 IS is a very good lens considering the price and only losing the 50mm is very worth the improvement in IQ.

I've not used any of the 70ish-300 lenses since, the only other lens I had that went to 300mm was the Tamron 28-300 VC which for a superzoom was quite surprisingly good for IQ.
