WMA-MP3 reducing size

I have converted a WMA file to a 20mb MP3 i want to send to a friend in the states, I get 75% of the way there then i get a message saying the message is terminated, i suspect its because of the size, does anyone know how i can reduce the mp3 size please.

MP3 is already quite compressed anyway. You could lower the qualty or the length of the mp3 file.

Or you could use something like winzip and specify the archive limit to be 10mb, this will split the file into 2 parts, normally .zip and .001 or something similar, allowing you to send them as separate files for the receipient to combine (automatically) in winzip resulting in the original file

You didn't say what the original WMA file size is or what sampling rate was used. Try 256kbs sampling rate, or as above, use multi-part zipped files.
