Woo how big

Perfect for destination weddings? :)

From memory, Canon did something similar, over 25 years ago and pre-digital, 1200 mm I think. Advertised constantly in every single photography mag, basically just to boast about their capabilities.

One of their reps told me that they only sold a total of 6, worldwide, priced at £57K each

Wasn't that "hyperzoom" discontinued a few years ago?

Probably, I'm fairly sure I saw that shot of the photographer in an old book or magazine more than 5 years ago. I doubt I'd use a lens that big if I had one, my 1000-4000 gets little enough use (and it's a lot slower - F16 at best)

They did. 1200 f/5.6L...

UK price was £65k

There is still the Canon RF 1200mm f/8L IS USM Lens - a snip at £22449 (special order at Wex)

I think that's where very small digital sensors come into their own.

You can carry the camera with the equivalent of a 3,000 millimetre lens in one hand! ;)

Many years ago a friend worked for the then Nikon importer and was involved on setting up their own ‘very large’ lens for a photographer in London for a commissioned photo. It was at that time the only Nikon lens of that size in this part of Europe.
