Maybe it would look nice if it was more tasteful wood and it was flush with the body, but that just looks like painted rubber camera armour in the photos 
If they're going to do something stupid like this, they might at least have made it look half decent :shrug:

Indeed, an oak bodied SD1 with walnut buttons might have saved the companies SLR division.
