Woody on fat ball

I had just put this fat ball up for some long tailed tits. As I got to my car and reached for my camera. This GSWP appeared from no where and straight onto the fat ball.

Sorry to be critical, but it's not a good idea to have fat balls in nets. The smaller birds can catch their feet in them and pull them off, and the woodpecker can catch it's tongue in them.

The RSPB warn against them, and the reputable feed sellers have phased them out.

Good on you for getting the woody. I agree with the comments about the nets though & please do not go knocking nails into living trees folks. My pet hate that is.
