As some of you may know, we are having building works done which has put a halt on the amount if shooting I'm doing.

Last night SWMBO in characteristically agreed to let me buy a lens!!

30 seconds later the sigma 35 f1.4 was in the shopping basket!!

Was looking for a thread in here for those who pair it with a nikon full frame (d800 preferably) but can't see one.

I'll have a look on Flickr but would love to see some examples on here!

Congratulations, it is an awesome lens!

I haven't actually got much uploaded on Flickr with this lens but here are a couple :) All taken on D700 apart from the last which was F90 and Portra 400

No, just the lens, I'm not a 'fiddler' generally, I've only ever micro adjusted one lens to one camera in my life, if it turns out it needs doing I'll buy the dock. But so far everything looks sharp.

Will see how I get on with it. Might sell the 50 f1.8g if it's as I expect. Although the 50 is a great light lens!! Got a friends 40th on Saturday and was asked to bring the camera. Might go prime only. 35 f1.4 85f1.8 +/- 50 f1.8. And an sb900 obviously!
 
Arrrrgh. At work now and the 35mm was expected tomorrow. It's here today at home waiting for me. Patience doesn't sit well with me!!
 
I currently use this lens Shaheed but have owned in total about 4 copies of the lens. I used it on a D800/5DMK3/D700 and now on the D750. Its a fabulous bit of kit though I must admit 2 copies required significant adjustment. Cracking lens for sure and tack sharp even wide open.
 
Another vote here, amazing lens. Really glad I bought mine. Its now become my most used lens.

You mean there's an option to not use it wide open? Wow.
 
Phil I don't quite get your sarcasm please tell me when to LOL at it.
 
So I've opened it looks lovely. Heavier than I expected. My eldest wanted to take a pic of me with it. I told her to "aim the box on my eye", added some exp comp and moved towards reasonable light. She had a go at f1.4. I'll post the result up later! She didn't reciprocate so I didn't get a pic of her!!

Bitingly sharp lens! I have the 50 and it takes a beautiful image also, not just with regards to distortion control and sharpness, but the way it picks up the light in a scene really is beautiful. Bit heavy tho!

My 8 year old daughter took the above pic - I'm looking forward to giving it a proper spin!
 
My gf is far more artistic than me, It's sad really! I try hard and have a fair bit of kit, but she has the flair with the angles and composition and vision. Oh well gotta be happy for them! (She too my avatar shot on a bumpy tut tut, at f1.4 on a manual focus camera. damnit)

Yeah, Sophia has the flair, she can draw better than either of us (her folks) and if she wanted further instruction I'd be glad to point her in the right direction!!

I think you're looking abit too hard. It's a simple throwaway line, I've only had mine a week but it's not been stopped down yet, and almost every image I've seen from this lens has been shot wide open.

So your phrase 'tack sharp even wide open', led me to say...


Lighten up, smile at life, not all fun has to be lol funny, sometimes a wry grin is enough :)
