wordpress & facebook had a falling out?

I have always been able to share my blog posts on my facebook fan page, however the other day I changed my blogging platform to a wordpress one & the link to it wont show on facebook:thinking:, I have not had it linked, I just posted the link to the blogs I wanted to share on facebook, now this problem has really screwed it up. I can put the link in but when I try to post it it says something went wrong & they hope to get it fixed soon, but any other link goes through without problem.

Have the 2 had a major fall out or something?:shrug:
 
no idea, but I have tried two different pluggins that auto post to fb when I make a blog post. Both used to offer me the option of using any image from the post as a thumbnail on the facebook post - now it offers me just one image, and its random, not necessarily even the first, and a silly icon that looks like the gadget show logo - it still shows the links ok, but I am a photographer, I want to show a preview picture for goodness sake and its driving me nuts! :bang:

edit: fwiw, I just tried adding a link to your blog post on my fb page and it retrieved it absolutely fine. Didnt actually hit post, but it showed as it should in the post box, with the blog pic, text etc...

Thanks Yvonne, it adds ok up to that point but when I press post it then has a paddy & refuses to post it:shrug:
 
Facebook seems to have been VERY buggy with posting links for a few weeks now. I kept posting updates to my page and then a while later it would just vanish!

I have noticed the thumbnail preview thing that Yv is getting too! If I post a link to my Google+ it shows a photo of Renee who is a friend on here and was (probably still is) a member on here. No idea why it has picked her, but no way of changing it.
 
You can force thumbnail images via the OpenGraph meta stuff, I think. That's probably what they're trying to get people to use.
 
Rumour going round that FB will be stopping all links to external sites from within messages soon. There'll still be links from paid adverts though
 
I think FB have to be a bit careful about what they do as with google plus and that other open source networking thingy that appeared recently they have competition. People are only so loyal. If you pee them off then they leave. They don't care how much time or effort you might have put into building something. If you change it so they don't like it they don't use it.
 
aye, thats where myspace went wrong. didn't listen to their users and when Rupert Murdoch took over just ruined it...
 
AARRGGHHH>>>> Just to add to the frustration, I just posted a new blog post so thought I would go back to using a facebook app that reads the rss and posts that way. The app still showed on my account, but can I seem to reactivate it it in anyway? no. Delete and try to start again, no, apparently it can't find a page to associate with...I mean WHAT!?!?

Facebook stinks, always did and does more now!! :bang:



Yes, I am a woman, I am allowed to be infuriated by something that doesn't work by MY sense of logic.... is facebook a man by any chance? :naughty:
