can any one recomend a good add on to make a sitemap so i can upload to google analytics as my current version doesnt make it propley

There is a pluggin called 'Google XML Sitemaps' that builds your sitemap after ever changes, and notifies all the major search engines for you

think so, I tend to hit update after I do any redesigning though

Yes, it tells you when it was last done as well so you can check. Has always updated automatically for me though.
