Wordpress themes (please don't kill me)

Good morning,

I'm trying to find a nice clean worpress theme that will let me include large pictures (upto about 1000px wide, although I could cope with 800 or so) with text more than just a caption, a custom header would be nice as well

Does anyone have any suggestions, I think I'm going mad

Where are you hosting? Do you have free choice of themes?

You can quite easily edit the themes if you find one that you like (subject to the license)

I really rate the Hybrid theme framework and themes generated using it...

Just find one that is close to what you want and edit it. That's what I did with mine. With regards to the image sizes, just use something like lightbox? Then you can set the thumbnail size and have the image appear at full size when clicked on - again that's what I did for mine.
