New here so hi everyone!

Im currently working in a hospital (which i hate) and would like to get back to photography and making a living with it.

Ive been thinking about working from home while working for a little while maybe...selling pictures online etc I know one friend that does this but I just wanted a bit more advice on how to get started and what kinda things I could do.

Would really appreciate from advice, thanks guys x :D:wave:

Without knowing your level of competence, the type of photography you 'do', the experience you have blah blah blah, I would think it would be difficult for anyone to truly give you good advice.

What I will say is that you could continue to work while you build up a portfolio, research the basics of running a business, ascertain the profit margins you would need and the income from your photography to at least pay your basic bills and then decide whether it can work for you - this is basic stuff that applies to any business, really.

leaping from a job that at least pays me a wage, whether I hate it or not, to self employed and selling photos on-line would, for me, be a very high risk strategy - one which may or may not pay off for you, but does (in my opinion) require a lot of thought and research.

Good luck to you whatever you decide to do. :)

Hi and welcome to TP,

There's a business section on here so I'd take a good look around there, search for threads relating to the type of photography you are into.

I know the motorsport guys work hard for not the greatest reward, weddings are tough from the sound of it (and not really 'online' sales so I guess that's not where your heading), there are some event/sport photographers on here too if that's the way you want to go.

Good luck, and take Samantha's advice above about research.

Paul.
