Worth buying a S/H Flash Bracket?

Yes
I've been offered one of those really solid Vivitar flash brackets with the combined cable release - (not that I need that) and am wondering whether it's worth having for using with my SB-800 on a D200.

Once upon a time it would have been recommended to reduce red eye but I notice that the press boys (and girls) always seem to place the flash direct on the hot shoe.

I realise I will have to fork out for a trigger cable.

Any thoughts anyone?

Press boys don't care about Red eye - it's not that there's some wonderful technique for avoiding it they use instead. Any shot used will be touched up if the Editor so chooses

Flash brackets, especially ones that allow the camera to turn 90-degrees (sometimes the camera turns, sometimes it's the flash) not only reduce red-eye but also maintain the same 'look' to a set of images as the flash stays in the same place relative to the camera/lens

I always use a flash bracket at Weddings etc. for the main reason of maintaining a consistent look (as well as the obvious red-eye avoidance) :)

Thanks Dave for your helpful advice

Unfortunately the one I'm thinking of doesn't allow the camera to turn 90degrees but I'll probably purchase a bounce card and rotate the flash.

Cheers

I have a Stroboframe going spare - it'd be a PITA to post though but if you're anywhere near South Yorks you can have it (original value was £49 I think) :)
