Is it worth sending off my 20D for repair to a meter issue, im sure the bill for the parts will dome to some massive amount on its own and how much is a 20D worth these days? £150?

Just weighing up my options as to whether to bin it or get it repaired as its just too unreliable with this fault

Why not get a cheap but totally workable light meter and do it the way we used to do for decades before digital?

I could do, whats a decent cheap lightmeter?

I can work the camera quite happily in manual which is ok for landscapes and stuff from chimping and using the histogram, whcih is how im going to keep using it, especially for some of the long exposure stuff i want to try

Convert it to IR and then the meter won't matter!

I can only speculate on light meters. There's Sekonic as Jukka mentioned. I have a Minolta. Then there's Weston. There are cheapies around which work ok. Best ask in the Film & Conventional forum.
