worth upgrading from a canon 15-85 to 24-105L?

I took some side by side/control images with a friends 15-85 vs my 24-105L on my 7D and whilst there was a difference (24-105 produces slightly richer colours) it was minimal and only really visible if pixel peeping.
Looking at your lens line up, I would say that you probably don't need to upgrade - but since when has logic ever come into the equation of upgraditis?

From what I've read/seen, I don't think it worth changing the 15-85 for the 17-55 unless you need the low light or DoF that 2.8 gives you. Have a look at this comparison that has 100% crops at different focal lengths/apertures of the two lenses (and others). I went from 24-105 to 15-85 (I still have the 24-105 but it never gets used). Reason was that 24 is not wide enough on a crop body. I see you have 10-22 but so do I and just got tired forever having to change between them. As for quality of pics I can't see any difference between them. :shrug:

I was going to get a 24-105 instead of my 17-85. Just to give you some idea, i wanted a walk around lens, but it needed to be wide as i have a crop camera. On a recent trip to New York i really dont think 24mm would have been wide enough.

Based on your lenses I'd just stick with 15-85. It's a nice gap filler between 10-22 and 70-200. And it is much better walkaround lens than 24-105 for crop I think.
When I was on crop, I had 10-22 and 24-105, but found annoying that they didn't overlap and I had to switch often. Bit of overlap is great and save some unnecessary lens changing.

I use both those lenses and I don't find the lack of overlap an issue.
Although the 10-22 is my main landscape lens, I find the 24-105 is also good for these as well.
As a general walkabout lens, 24-105 is a corker imho on a cropped body.

I bought my 7d with the kitted 15-85, on the basis that if I didn't like the 15-85, I'd be able to sell it for a good enough amount to put towards the 24-105. I already own a 17-40L and 70-200f4 IS L lens, and in addition to the 7d regularly shoot with a EOS-3 35mm camera, and therefore need full frame compatible lenses. It's 5 months now, and I still haven't decided what to do. The 15-85 has the convenience side sewn up, though I wish it was properly weather-shielded like the L glass. At the moment, the 15-85 is earning it's keep, and i'll most likely keep it for those "one lens days" and get a 24-105 for when I'm out and about with the full kit in the backpack.
