It is a bit daunting the first time you do it but it is really easy.
I do mine and I must admit the first time i was nervous as hell but it is so easy to do, buy a blower first that way you never need touch the sensor then if that does not remove the dust and you are still not happy to do it yourself then pay someone to doit.
Personally i refuse to pay some one to blow air into my camera which in affect that is what they will do unless the bits of dust are stubborn and will not move with a blower, then they will probably use the methods.

My next door neighbor has a blower, ill give it a try, if it does not remove it, i guess it will need to be paid for.

I felt exactly the same as you,it really is a simple procedure and no where near as difficult as you might think.I now clean my sensor as often as I need and after reading one your repliesI realise now that I have saved a small fortune too!

Hope its a camera one and not the one he uses for blowing the leaves into a neat pile in his garden:lol:

I was extremely nervous myself. It was then pointed out that I do far more precise things on a daily basis in our lab, the only difference being it's not my £2k I ruin in that case. Still, I have no problems with doing it now, and after a demonstration of the level of skill required, I think most people could do it...

I found this video a few weeks ago about doing a wet clean of the sensor while doing some aimless reading about techniques. I haven't tried it myself but seems simple enough. For now I have only needed to use a rocket blower for dust.

I have adapted my hoover to suck it out :D

Following comments about the dust bunnies in some of my pics, I set about cleaning my sensor. Blowing it unfortunately left a few spots that wouldn't shift. I then gave it a quick wet clean. I used a new swab straight out of the shrink wrap and only wiped gently, yet managed to leave a nice scratch on the sensor.

I had to sell my 85mm lens to fund the sensor replacement. Apparently, in this particular camera, the filters in front of the sensor are bonded and can't be changed in isolation.

Wow that it is harsh, based on that I don't think I'll be looking at doing the cleaning myself any time soon.

At Jessops we don't do the cleaning in store, especially the smaller stores. It would be sent away and done professionally because we don't get trained in completing tasks like you have said.
