Would anyone swap Nikon 24-70 for 17-35?

Hi guys,

I'm just curious as to whether any of you guys (particularly anyone who shoots press work / news etc) would rather use a 17-35 2.8 on full frame over a 24-70? Bare in mind it would be coupled with a 80-200. There's just some times when I feel that 24mm maybe isn't quite wide enough, however any wider may be too distorted on people? I'm interested to hear if anyone has used both and what they'd choose.

I use the 14-24 2.8 when I need to go wider than the 24-70.

Not really the answer I was looking for :p I'd love to have both. Actually the 14-24's front element is a bit of a pain, as nice as the lens is.

Serious answer?

No.

I have both the 14 to 24, and the 24 to 70. I honestly think for 90% of shots I do, the 24 to 70 is best. For "in your face" photo journalism? I would probably insist on my current setup of both lenses....not sure if I only had the 24 to 70, what I would do. Almost certainly though, not swap for that tiny bit extra at the wide end....
