Thinking about buying a 40mm STM lens for my 600D but would it be worthwhile as I have a 17-50mm F 2.8 VC tamron lens - Other than the fact it is smaller ...
Would I benefit from the 40mm Canon STM lens V my Tamron 17-50?

It is probably marginally sharper too - although the Tamron is no slouch.
If you do video, the AF will be better/quieter.
Otherwise, size is the main benefit.
