Yes
I'm a video newbie but I've just got a Fujifilm X-H1 and looking to try a bit of video. My laptop has got a Core i5 7th gen processor. I'm thinking of editing F-log files for colour grading etc. but a bit worried that my laptop will get bogged down....

You most certainly would. Unless you spend quite a bit on a fast laptop, even editing stills can be a right PITA.

For video work, you want to use the fastest processor, biggest (and fastest) HD and maximum amount of ram that you can afford. I would also suggest a minimum of two monitors.

Creating and using proxy files can help. Try if this is enough before deciding about a new laptop.

I would think 1080p would be feasible.
4K you would need to get to grips with Proxies , and have a program able to use them.
