Currently watching a lens on evil bay , the seller has a 5 feedback of which three are over a year old ?..? The lens is a good price but by the photos it has no lens cap ,no lens hood and no box . .. I have asked regarding these items and whether it’s full working but no reply so far (this evening ) it could be genuine but the old fools rush in adage is niggling me .???

Any other photographic stuff in the past or all unrelated. Complete change of ‘normal’ sales would raise a red flag.

There's a saying that you buy the seller and not the item. The fact you have doubts already suggests this probably isn't the one for you

You’re protected by eBay and PayPal.

How much is it?
£500 + .. just had a reply from it. ( H.) That was it seems more dodgy than a car with bald tires

Without boxes etc, it may be stolen goods. Personally, I wouldn't go for it..........:)
Lots of people throw boxes away so that assumption is a bit wide of the mark being honest.

If in doubt don't get it, there must be others selling same item. The alternative is to buy from a Japanese seller . I have bought 4 lenses from Japan and each have been like new. If the advert says "MINT OR NEAR MINT" You will think it is new. Near mint only means something like box- or paperwork is missing. Even with import duties you still win price wise. Of the 4 lenses I bought I must have saved nearly £1000 against new UK prices.

a couple of examples no editing as shot

only thing to watch out for is which version is on offer on any lens /cameras on evilbay. With panasonic firmware updates are on the interweb so I did this with a couple of lenses. So do check serial numbers before purchase
