Made the trip of a lifetime with Jamie Blandford and Edd Cope to watch the world's best drivers on the snow and ice of Sweden and Norway last week, and it was absolutely mind blowing. The pace the top crews carry on surfaces you can barely stand on has to be seen to be believed.

We did alot of research beforehand poring over hours of previous footage, and despite it being our first time at the event we managed to find some spectacular locations - even if it meant walking some ridiculous distances. Since getting home, I've worked out we walked just over 16km on the first day!

There was also a Historic event supporting the main WRC field which was won by former WRC Legend Petter Solberg, co-driven by his wife Pernilla in this Escort RS1800, built by his former co-driver Phil Mills' Viking Motorsport:

Lovely set of shots Rhodri.
As I said the other day on your flickr page it's an amazing rally it really is,and definitely an event the TV coverage can't anywhere near replicate speed wise (When you can get it over here that is!)

Fantastic set of images, your research certainly paid off. #4 just edges it for me, but difficult to choose just one from such quality.

Cracking set there Rhod, although I am sure you would have rather been in the Forest of Dean with us.

Some great exposure and white balance settings, making the colours really pop out at you with the snowy backdrop.

Stunning work Rhod, simply stunning...
The Citroen's look amazing against the white back ground

Glad to see all that cold weather training at places like Myherin has paid off.

An absolutely stunning set of images, #1 just invited you to go on you knew there was more of the same to come and you weren't disappointed #12 what a catch. Beautiful scenery and the colours spot on. Thank you for sharing some of the best images I have seen on here. Sharon.:)

Absolutely top drawer Rhod. Think the walking would have done for me ,deffo a trip for the young guns like you ,Blandford and Cope.

So many fab images and wall hangers.

The clarity and colours of the Petter shot, and the backdrop makes it my favourite in a brilliant set. Proper well done mate.

Can imagine a clubbie rally at Pembrey will fill you full of optimism soon.

Great set, it's definitely on my bucket list.

Thanks for all the comments (y)

Thanks mate, and lets just say I'm not looking forward to the clubbie events too much!

Great set. What lens did you use if you don't mind me asking?

Hi, there's too many to go through individually but the majority were taken with a 70-200 f2.8L, a few with a 24-70 f2.8L and one or two with a Sigma 10-20 wide angle.

Cheers,

Rhod

By the sound of things you've really poured your strength into doing this and by Lenin's beard its paid off in heaps!

Time to put your feet up for a bit now I think :)

Superb shots excellent

Rhodri,

Thanks for sharing such a great set of photos. Very pic heavy, but I kept scrolling down hoping you had put up some more. Looks like a great event to attend, and I bet with with passion of the Scandinavian fans, the atmosphere was superb.
I'm not going to pick any favourites, as I think the set is good enough no to have to single out any one or two shots.
awesome!!

Fantastic set of shots & many mag worthy, epic stuff just shows what a little homework can achieve(y)(y)(y)

Thanks for all the comments! Came across this extra shot of the winner earlier which I quite like:

Spasibo bolʹshoye comrade!

I certainly did pour my strength into it, and I'm still paying for it over a week later!!

Love these. Captures the atmosphere of the event as well which is brilliant.

Walking 16km in the snow must be interesting to say the least. I think I almost broke my neck at least 5 times in half a mile when we had the snow here. :D
