ok so i was out working on friday night with my new nikon D300s when i got to about 1100 clicks and then the number of the next pic i took was 5000 and something :eek:

Has this happened to anyone else?
 
Did you change the battery or memory card before the number jump?

I had a look at your Flickr, as you can normally tell from the EXIF on there what the actual image number (as opposed to the file number) of a shot is, but you must be using "save for web" or some such setting as it isn't there.

If you could upload the shot directly before the change and the one it changed on, just by saving normally in PS so that all the EXIF is retained we should be able to get to the bottom of it....

Something to do with the file name it thinks is in there. Why it would do that whilst you were taking shots.. no idea. Only other thing I can think of is if you were changing some settings in the menu..?

Didn't change any settings.
